Papaya Leaf Juice

Papaya Leaf Juice
The papaya leaf contains beta-carotene, calcium, carpaine, fats, flavonols, niacin, papain, tannins, and vitamin C (in higher concentration in the leaf than in the fruit). The leaf, unlike the fruit, is not a source of the protein-dissolving enzyme papain, but the latex (sap) in the leaf stem is. Papain remains in leaf preparations that have been dried over low heat, but it may be destroyed in products that are dried at high heat.

Use even medium size papaya leaves – not very old ones and not too young. The leaves should be washed thoroughly and partly dried. Cut them and put them in a saucepan together with 2 liters of water.

Bring the water and leaves to the boil and simmer (without a lid) until the water is reduced by half.

Strain the liquid and bottle in glass container. The concentrate will keep in the refrigerator for three to four days. If it becomes cloudy it should be discarded. The recommended dosage in the original recipe is 50 ml three times a day.

Health benefits for treatment of cancer, papaya leaf juice is claimed to have reversed cancer in many people living on the Gold Coast in Australia.

There is also news that papaya leaf juice can help reduce dengue fever.

Papaya leaf juice aids in the breakdown and metabolism of protein, exhibits anti-ulcer activity and helps to relieve indigestion. Papaya leaf contains the powerful proteolytic enzymes, papain and chymopapain, which digest proteins, small peptides, amides and esters. Their activity extends to carbohydrate and fat, and they are said to be more effective than naturally- occurring proteases like pepsin and trypsin. Since stomach ailments are often the direct result of indigestion, papaya leaf juice may help prevent and remedy these by increasing digestive processes, as the digestive properties of papain are well established.

Coconut Water
Coconut water is juice in the coconut. The best coconut water comes from the premature green coconut, when the meat is in the early stages as a jelly like substance.

Coconut water is cheap and easily available in coastal century areas. The fact that it is high in potassium makes it an ideal re-hydration liquid for intravenous administration of gastroenteritis and diarrhea.

The main reason why coconut water is such an energy giving, youthing/anti-ageing drinks is the content of strong alkalizing minerals, naturally balanced in calcium, magnesium, potassium, chlorine and sodium. It can be used to treat heart, liver and kidney disease. This is beneficial in case of general dropsy, scanty urination with acidic contents, morning sickness during pregnancy, intestinal infections, albuminuria, gonorrhea, etc.

Coconut water along with lime juice can be used in infants and children to cure dehydration. This can be given in doses of one teaspoon for every 10 minutes to quench the thirst and to restore the electrolyte to balance where emergency saline transfusion facilities are not available.

Tender coconut water can be mixed in milk and given to infants to provide relief from vomiting, constipation, and indigestion. Tender coconut water along with a pinch of turmeric powder, and an equal quantity of slaked lime water works as a good soothing ointment for burns.

Coconut water is best direct from palm - cool and delicious. But for most people, this is only a dream associated with a tropical island holiday.
