Technically, any liquid intended for drinking is a beverage so named by a word derived from French and Latin verbs meaning ‘to drink.’ Healthy beverages are beverages with health benefits that attribute by its nutritional value. The use of healthy beverage for promoting health and relieving symptom is as old as the practice of medicine.

Anise (Pimpinella anisum) for drink

Anise is native to Asian but has been grown in Europe at least since the first century.

The small, hard, greyish-brown fruits are rich in an essential oil, the main constituent of which is anethole.

The anise based drink called ouzo is popular in Greece. Ouzo by definition is made only in Greece. It is a relative to Pernod which actually from France. Pernod are also anise flavored drinks.

Anise drinks are high in alcohol, average 90 proof, or 45 percent. Traditionally Pernod is diluted to 1:5 water, the volume of alcohol is lowered considerably.

The anise in the drink produced a tantalizing taste and odor, making the drink even more appealing than other alcoholic.
